18/4/2012 Powys claimant unemployment rate 2.6% March 2012
There were 2,070 people out of work and claiming unemployment benefits in Powys in March 2012, equivalent to 2.6% of the estimated resident population aged 16-64 according to data released in April 2012 by the Office for National Statistics.
The Council's Research and Information Unit estimate that the highest claimant unemployment rates among the county's 15 Local Community Forum Areas (LCFAs) were in Llandrindod Wells LCFA (4.7%), Knighton LCFA (3.9%) and Ystradgynlais LCFAs (3.8%).
Llandrindod East/Llandrindod West electoral division was the 9th worst area in Wales. Newtown East was also among the worst 100 areas.

In March 2012, Data Unit Wales have published a set of local Service Profiles on Social Services across Wales to support the new Annual Council reporting Framework.

28/3/12 Teenage Conceptions in Wales, 2010
The latest report on teenage conceptions produced by the Welsh Government was released on 27 March 2012.
The rate of conceptions to under 18s in Powys has fallen from 38.5 per 1000 female residents in 2007, to 27.6 in 2008, 25.3 in 2009 and 23.7 in 2010.
Powys ranked 21st among Welsh Unitary Authorities for 2008-2010 for average rate with 25.5 per 1000 female residents compared to Wales 40.8, above only Monmouth.
22/3/12 Regional Transport Plans, Baseline Report, 2011
The latest report on Monitoring the Regional Transport Plans produced by the Welsh Government were released on 22 March 2012. This report gives statistics on the regional transport plans for the 22 local authorities and 4 transport consortia in Wales. Topics covered include accessibility to services, mode of transport, public transport usage, road transport usage, safety and environment.
Powys has seen a 4.5% increase in rail passenger numbers between 2008-09 (Wales 3.1%).
Powys had over half a million concessionary bus journeys made in 2010-11.
Powys had 5.4% of its principal A roads requiring close monitoring of its structural condition (Wales 6.6%) and 19.5% of non-principal roads,the highest percentage among local authorities in Wales.
